Custom Alarms
Soft alarms are based on a sequence of events that may predict a
system failure, present an opportunity to reduce congestion, or warn
of events that require customer intervention.
These event driven “soft” alarms can provide many
of the features of call accounting. As an example, when your PBX
detects a dead circuit, it closes that circuit down until the PBX is
instructed to reactivate the circuit. Until the PBX is instructed to
reactivate the circuit, you are paying for capacity that you are not
receiving. Through the use of soft alarms, we have found many cases
where significant capacity has been unusable for months.
Peak load busy circuit and low circuit data can
be detected by soft alarms. Tracking the time and frequency of these
alarms can provide an opportunity improve the cost/performance of the
network.
Attempts to hack into a system with a high volume
of short incoming calls can be detected and reported as soft alarms. |
